Test Realm is Open!

Hello Wizards!

Last week, Kingsisle opened up the Test Realm for us to test out some new features! They include new Dungeons, Shadow Spells, Equipment Sets, and so much more! I'm gonna run through each feature below to explain and show pics and or video. To read all of the new updates, head over to the test realm update notes! Let us begin...
There are 4 new dungeons that open to the Spiral with this update! Each is a different difficulty so there is fun for everyone.
- Level 25 and higher; Expedition to save missing Marleybonian Soldiers
- Level 40 and higher; Sherlock Bones needs your help in Barkingham Palace
- Level 60 and higher; Alhazred and his student needs your help on Zigazag
- Level 100; Malistaire the Undead summons you to Ancient Darkmoor Castle

I will be blogging about each dungeon one by one in upcoming posts, including recordings of each in full length. For now though, above is a taste of them! Next up is the new Shadow spells you will learn with this new update.
If you complete part of the Darkmoor Dungeon, you receive the above spells as a reward. Notice that you have to use regular pips AND 1 shadow pip. This is the first time this occurs in the game, and I bet that we will see a lot more pip combo's like this in the future. I should inform you that the Glowbug Squall, Call of Khrulhu, and Gaze of Fate have all been changed from the above with a recent update. Glowbug Squall is now 1120 Storm Damage to all and remove all positive charms. Call of Khrulhu is now 830 health drain to all enemies. Finally Gaze of Fate is 550 Balance Damage + 550 Random School Damage and applies a 25% balance boost bubble. Below is a recording of the new Storm Spell I got during test!

I really love the animation of this one and the bugs are really hilarious. I like how they are starting to use background during them as well. Next up is one of my favorite new updates, Gear Sets!
Starting when this update pushes to live, you have the option in your backpack to create your own customized gear sets with one click of a button! For example, say I wanted to create my Critical Gear Set up. I would equip everything in my Crit Gear Set + which pet I would be using, and deck and click "create gear set". It then would ask you what you want to name it. After naming it, it will be an option for you to "click" and with one click of a button all of those gear/pet/deck will be equipped instead of manually equipping all one by one! Amazing! A+ to whoever pushed this feature.
Next up is Skeleton Keys! During some of the battles in the new dungeons, you have a rare chance at collecting a skeleton key! There are 3 different kinds right now; Wooden, Stone, and Gold. You can receive the Wooden keys from the level 25 dungeon and the level 40 dungeon. You can receive the Stone keys from the level 60 dungeon, and finally you can receive the Golden keys from Darkmoor Castle.

What you do with these keys when you find one is either place them in your house as decoration, OR use them! :) In the new Dungeons you could find a lock on the wall or door that is asking to be opened. If you or someone in the dungeon with you has a key, open it up, there could be treasure inside or evil awaiting you!

I cannot wait for these features and dungeons to be on the Live realm, more fun things to farm for especially Malistaire's Gear in Darkmoor Castle. Posts about each Dungeon will be coming very soon!

See you in the Spiral Wizards!

To the Outpost!

Hello Wizards!

Last time we left off on our adventures, we visited Hametsu Village in hopes to find a cure for the Emperor. We were to late, the village was in flames and destroyed. Warlord Katsumori has gone mad and is trying to take over. To help out we defeat one of Katsumori's warlords near Hametsu Village, Do-Daga. Shojiro the guard to the Village thanked us, and asks us to go to Tatakai Outpost to catch the spy helping Katsumori.
Sanasai, the guard for the Outpost thanks you for coming to help him. He tells us that we have to take back control over the outpost or the enemies will not give us a chance to reclaim the Emperor's Sword. Sanasai tells us to head towards the lookout towers scattered around the area to devise our next plan of action. When we return we tell him what it looks like and he decides we have to weaken the enemies by taking away their supplies.
Warrior Sanasai has us visit his friend, Shai Fung who will know how to cut the enemies supplies. First he wants us to go around the outpost and destroy any supply boxes containing weapons we see. When we return with the good news, Shai tells us that Katsumori has sent out more supply runners to get more Weapons after we destroyed some of them. Lets go defeat some of them to cut the supplies for good!
When we return to Shai, he is very happy that we have cut off the supplies. But to make sure no more come to the Outpost we have to defeat Katsumori's Quartermaster who resides near the Outpost's edge. After we do that, we can finally confront him and take back the Emperor's sword!

Shai is excited when we return and tell him we defeated the Quartermaster, he wants us to go tell Sanasai the good news that we have finally stopped the supplies from coming. Sanasai is happy we finally have stopped them, but is still worried about the spy that is rumored to be here. He wants us to go around the outpost and light the Scout towers on fire as a distraction while he looks for him.
When we return to Sanasai after lighting all of the posts on fire, he tells us that he has found the "spy". It is the leader of the enemy outpost, he is located in the dojo up ahead but the keys were taken by the ronin soldiers when they took over. Lets go defeat some and find that key to finally stop the spy Maito!
Now that we have the key, we have to sneak into the dojo. Sanasai has sent his army to distract most of Maito's army. Now is our chance to end this war in the Outpost! For the Emperor!

After defeating the spy, we return to Sanasai and he thanks us for all of the help we presented him. It turns out that he is actually Shojiro's brother! Lets head back to Hametsu Village and finally confront Warlord Katsumori now that we have stopped some of his army!

Until then Wizards!

Halloween has returned to the Spiral!

Hello Wizards!

Halloween has arrived in the Spiral once again! Spooky Bob is back with all of his holiday goods, and the evil Nosferatu Rabbit is causing problems in the Mysterious Cavern near Lord Nightshades tower... Lets not forget about the Creepy Towers that appear in Ravenwood each October!

Yes there are new Halloween fish swimming in Wizard City! The 2 you see above are the Black Catfish, which is located in the Commons. It is the death school, so the easiest way to find it is black smoke when using the "reveal school" spell. The second one above is the Frankenfish. He is located in Unicorn Way and is storm school! The final Halloween fish is located in Cyclops lane, and is called the Vampire Squid! They are also from the death school. Cyclops lane holds 2 other death school fish, the Cuddlefish and the Deathcuda, so it may be rare to find.

Make sure to add those to your collections before October comes to an end! You may notice the Professor and his Tardis above and your thinking, "What does that have to do with October?" Well he will be needing our help soon again with a special adventure! Will you be up to the challenge? Keep your eyes out.
Professor Greyrose is leading the charge with the Extra Life Charity Gaming Marathon! Join her and other fans of the game if you wish to play video games for 24 hours! (or at least attempt it! =]) On Saturday October 25th, gamers from all around the world will play their favorite games while raising charity for children's hospitals around the United States!

If you wish to help out, you can do either one of 2 things. You could either donate to the "KI Gamers" group, or join the KI Gamers group and raise money for the cause! As an incentive to helping out, Kingsisle has offered rewards to people who meet milestones.
If you raise a certain amount of money after joining the team, you will earn the special gifts above. These would be sent to you after October 25th to the email you signed up with when joining the Extra Life "KI Gamers" group. Many Twizards and Twirates have already joined and are going to help out the best they can! Together united we can reach the goal of KI Gamers Group! To learn more click here!

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful evening.

Kingsisle Live Chat #1

Hello Wizards!

Tom and Leala finished up their first KI Live Chat a few hours ago. If you happened to miss it you can watch it, not to worry. They did an amazing job and cannot wait to see more of these in the future! Hoping they cycle both games (W101 then P101 etc..) =)

Another cool Idea for it would be to have special guests from each game join for a few minutes or stay the whole show if they wanted to. I can imagine Ratbeard showing up for the Pirate101 one, or Blind Mew. Perhaps Kiersten Samwell (The old Greyrose) for Wizard101. :) Also meeting us in game somewhere would be neat during the streams!

All in all it was great to watch and I am glad that we have awesome Community Managers for the games we love. Letting us interact with them and do these things mean a lot to us. Thank you so much Tom and Leala, you guys are great!!

Tan Keng leads the way...

Hello Wizards!

The last time we left off on our adventures, we ventured to the mystical world of Mooshu and tried to stop Malistaire from getting the Dragonspyre Spiral Key. It turns out we were too late, and Malistaire had already is on his way to Dragonspyre and has put a curse on the Emperor of Mooshu. To get the key to follow Malistaire, we must find a way to cure the Emperor.
After leaving the Emperor's Palace, head down the steps and to your right you will see a Monk named Tan Keng. The wise Monk tells us in order to cure the Emperor, we must restore his mind, body, and spirit. Tan fills us in that while the Emperor has been cursed by Malistaire, the people of Mooshu have been fighting against eachother. Warlord Katsumori has taken the Emperor's sword and has started a war. He tells us to visit Hametsu Village and talk to Shojiro Gama for more information on Katsumori's whereabouts.
When you arrive at Hametsu Village, you will meet Shojiro Gama at the entrance. You can see that the Village is in shackles with fires everywhere and damage to some of the buildings. Shojiro warns you that Warlord Katsumori has gone mad and spread out all of their forces. He asks you to go and find his missing men on the outskirts of the village.
After saving Shojiro's army, we return and he tells us that Katsumori attacked their village when they were celebrating the festival of lights. His army cant do much since Katsumori took all of their weapons. Look for some of the boxes spread out near the outskirts of the village and bring them back to give weapons to Shojiro's men.
After returning the weapons to Shojiro, he sends us off to defeat some of the nearby bandits and outlaws of Katsumori roaming near the village. We must weaken their numbers to strengthen ours! Once we return, we must go defeat a Otomo Carrier to see their attack orders. We bring back the attack orders to Shojiro and he reads them to us. It seems that their is a spy within our allies giving the enemies all of our information. The Carrier we defeated seems to be getting orders from Do-Daga, one of Katsumori's warlords. We must defeat him before he attacks the village again!

After defeating Warlord Do-Daga, return to Shojiro and he thanks us for all of our help in the Village. He tells us the spy must be up ahead in the nearby Outpost. He wants us to go speak with Sanisai Fukido there to help us catch the spy!

Until next time Wizards!

Path to Mooshu!

Hello Wizards!

The last time we left off on our adventures, we saved Ivar Andersson from the evil raven named Munin Mistweaver in Grizzleheim. Now that we are finished helping out the bears of Grizzleheim now, we can return to our main quest and follow Malistaire to Mooshu! Ambrose tells us to quickly warn the Emperor of Mooshu to not let Malistaire have the Spiral Key to Dragonspyre!
As soon as you enter the ancient land of Mooshu, you will meet Su Lee. We ask her to meet with the Emperor right away to warn him about Malistaire. She tells us that we need permission from his Majesty's Guard. Su lets us know that Naboru Akitame can help us. You can find him by the Jade Palace.
When we reach Noboru Akitame at the top of the stairs near the Jade Palace entrance, he greets us and welcomes us to the land of Mooshu. We tell him the reason we have to meet the emperor and he tells us that another wizard just like us spoke the same words as us. Noboru tells us his name was Malistaire. They are not allowing anyone to see the Emperor unless they pass the test of body, mind, and spirit. He warns us that nobody has ever passed all 3 tests except the Emperor himself.
Noboru tells us our first test will be with Lo Pang by the rock garden. When we meet Lo, he tells us we will now be taking the test of mind. Step into the rock garden to clear your mind then enter the dojo to enhance your wisdom. After reading the book of celestial wisdom in the dojo return to Lo Pang. He tells us we have learned much and we are on the path to Mooddha and reminds us to keep this inner peace with us at all times.
Return to Noboru and he is surprised that you passed the test of mind. Next up is the test of body. For this test we have to battle a samoorai named Yochimo Toyo near the Water Dojo. When we meet Yochimo he is very excited to battle a wizard as he has never had before.

After defeating Yochimo, return to the Jade Palace and Noboru congratulates you on passing both the mind and body tests. The final test is the test of spirit. To pass this test, you have to face the statue of Mooddha and let your true spirit shine. When you stand in front of the great statue, it speaks to you and tells you that you have a shining spirit of a hero inside of you. Now that we have passed all 3 tests we can finally visit the Emperor!
Inside, the Jade Champion greets you. He tells us he needs our help and that we are too late. Malistaire already came and wounded the Emperor and fled to Dragonspyre. If we want to travel to Dragonspyre we must help the emperor get back to better health. Ton Keng a Monk near the Palace may know how to cure him!

Until Next time Wizards!

Boss Tokens!

Hello Wizards!

Earlier today I was thinking of some new Ideas Wizard101 and Pirate101 could add to the game and came across this! I wanted to share it with you all to see your opinions on it. I also made some quick graphics to showcase how it would work. A lot of Wizards and Pirates have some trouble collecting gear they want badly for their characters. This may be a possible solution!
For example, lets say you have been having trouble getting Malistaire's Level 50 Storm Robe for your Storm Wizard. You spend atleast 40-50 minutes in his dungeon and have the worst luck. After you defeat Malistaire, you receive 1 Malistaire Boss Token. After the battle head over to the silver chest with gold eyes, that is where you can exchange your boss tokens for Malistaire's Dropped Items.
A window like the Bazaar will pop open with all of the Items you can exchange for Malistaire's Boss Tokens. If you have 50 of them , you could exchange It for Malistaire's Purgatory Coat which is the Life Grandmaster Robe. Of course I'm not sure what the costs would be for items across the spiral, this is just an example. But lets be honest, this would be very useful for those farmers out there who are trying to get their Tartarus Gear, and Morganthe Amulets! :)
